Who is Tenzin McGrupp?

Tenzin McGrupp is a writer from New York City. He is a graduate of Regis High School in Manhattan and Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

At the age of 17, he got his first job on Wall Street as a runner for Floor Brokers Associates, located on the trading floor of the New York Commodities Exchange, which used to be situated in the World Trade Center. He has worked at the M. C. Carlos Museum in Atlanta, the Metropolitan Musuem of Art in NYC, and the Frye Art Musuem in Seattle. In 1995, he got his second job on Wall Street, this time as a Municipal Bond Broker, and in January of 1996 he was named Rookie of the Year by his firm. He abruptly quit a career in Finance in 1996 to pursue a career in writing and started his first novel.

Since 1997, McGrupp had many unsucessful attempts in Hollywood as a screenwriter and as a television writer, working on sitcom projects Belle and The Bikini Hangout.

In 2001, he started his own film production company, McGrupp Films, which focuses on his own independent films and experimental photography projects. In 2003, he directed several short films called: Groove, Molly in NYC, and Si Senor.

In June 2002, he started the Blog-Zine Truckin', a literary magazine where he posts personal sagas, travel stories and tales from the road. He is currently the Editor and feature writer. Other completed 2002 projects include: Charlie's Goldfish, a screenplay he submitted (under the name Paul McGuire) for the 2002 Project Greenlight writing contest.

In November 2002, McGrupp finished his first novel: Jack Tripper Stole My Dog as a participant in NaNoWriMo 2002.

In 2003, fellow writer Sigge Amadal invited him to write for his Norwegian based website called: The Good News, where he frequently contributed articles on various topics and his ramblings finally reached a European audience.

In late August 2003, he completed his second novel Baby and Winky, based on characters he created for several Truckin' short stories. In September 2003, he set up a blogsite for his poetry called McPoems.

An avid traveler, painter, poker player, and Deadhead, Tenzin McGrupp has followed numerous bands throughout America and even followed Phish for their summer tour of Japan in 2000. He currently lives in New York City and can sometimes be found at the Poker Room at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut or at the Cedar Tavern in Manhattan.
